ElektraBots Robotics Team Qualifies for World Championship

YWLA’s Robotics team, the ElektraBots, competed at the Belton Qualifier and came out on top! As the Event Winner, the ElktraBots qualified to participate in the 2023 World Championship. In addition, the ElktraBots took home the Imagery Award, which celebrates the attractiveness in engineering and aesthetics integration of machine and team appearance. 

In 2015, Alexus Arizola (class of 2018), started the robotics team. With a strong clan of eight high schoolers, the school counselor and the principal’s husband, the 6155th FIRST robotics team was added: the Elektrabots, becoming the first all-girls FIRST team in San Antonio. Since their rookie year, their motto has been “Keep it Scrappy” which represents their ability to build a quality and efficient robot with the resources they find in the shop. Today, the team has 25 students, who diligently work together to achieve a common goal.
