YWLA Receives $250,000 Commitment from H-E-B to Support Students and Teachers
On August 12, the YWLA community gathered for a joyful surprise: H-E-B announced a generous 5-year, $50,000 commitment, totaling $250,000 to support operational needs for students and teachers at the Young Women’s Leadership Academy.
The announcement was made during a special gathering of YWLA faculty, staff, and Advisory Board members the day before the first day of school. The celebration included a delicious lunch from True Texas BBQ, adding a flavorful touch to the exciting news.
This gift reflects H-E-B’s long-standing support of YWLA, dating back to the early days when Charles Butt first visited the school. The commitment was championed by Christy Banazek, H-E-B’s Chief People Officer and a dedicated member of the YWLA Advisory Board.
We are deeply grateful to Christy, and the entire H-E-B team for their continued belief in our mission and their investment in the future of our students.
Together, we’re building brighter futures, one young leader at a time.
